Art that Compels: an Evening with David Zlotky

Oct 2, 2015 First Friday Art Walk
David Zlotky is a painter and photographer whose work is in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air & Space Museum, the Truman Library in Independence, Missouri and the U.S. Air Force Art Collection. His photographs have been exhibited at the MPLS Photography Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and his image, Morning Light, was recently selected for a show at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Using digital and traditional photographic techniques, and archivally printed, David’s work celebrates the play of light on the landscape. His fine art landscape photography is represented in private and corporate collections. The images are characterized by strong composition and a painter’s sense of aesthetics. Whether in traditional black and white or muted color, the work pays homage to the natural beauty of Kansas, Colorado, Wisconsin and California.
David’s photographs of French street scenes provide an intriguing look at the beautiful, everyday world that is Northern France.
David’s photographs of locations in Topeka provide a fresh appreciation of that which tends to be overlooked because of it’s closeness. Local barns, Shunga Creek, Crestview Park, and eloquent streets will surprise the viewer when seen through David’s lens.
