“…a startling choice as Color of the Year for 2011.”

pantone-honeysuckle-2011-colour-of-the-year

Soooo…what do YOU think?  Does it make you laugh, squint, cringe?  It’s always exciting to see Pantone’s color selections and consider how the emotion behind them tell us a little more about how we’re doing on just about all levels, whether personal, community, national and even global.  The Honeysuckle of 2011 is “decidedly pink with a dash of red artfully mixed in.”

“A color for all seasons:  Courageous.  Confident.  Vital.  A brave new color for a brave new world.”

In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits.  Honeysuckle is a stimulation, captivation color that gets the adrenaline going–perfect to ward off the blues.  -Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute

JUST IN: Washing up with Paraguayan Soap

Perfect stocking stuffer for boys & girls of all ages…

When I received a box from Wembe, the amazing aroma as I opened the package told me this was not your everyday cake soap.  Raw and natural, every bar is created with essential oils and moisturizing butters from the Amazonian rainforests.  Wembe crafts their soaps “following the aroma-therapeutic principles of each plant, so each bar of soap and each ounce of salt or scrub is more than just a perfumed hygiene item, it’s a work of art hand crafted to alter the mood and smoothe the spirit.”  Fair trade & vegan-friendly.

Cleansing blends now in stock include Chocolate, Seaweed, Citric, Snow, Avocado, Green Blue River (with real sand from Paraguay’s Parana River), White Rose, Mango, Passion Fruit, Dulce de Leche, Coconut, and award winning Yerba Mate.

ahh…basket weaving

Soho Interiors is privileged to feature hand crafted pine needle baskets by Anne Wells. Wells’ inspiration came after moving to a home in California, where a tree shed needles all over her deck; she purchased a book and taught herself the art of basket weaving. Anne transposed the book’s instructions from right handed to left handed and has continued to increase the complexity of designs over the years. Canary Island and Montezuma pine needles are her choice material as they are very flexible and measure from 9-15 inches long. Come admire a variety of baskets–some coiled with raffia, some with waxed thread, two with gourd bases. Private collection – not for sale.
